Hi there, I’m Robert Ritz
Currently working on Endleaf, a document management system for the AI era. I’m also the President of American University of Mongolia, co-founder of Kraft, creator of Data.mn, and editor of MongolBeat. Most of my success comes from my amazing family.
Over the years I’ve done a lot of different things. I was an aide for a member of the US Congress, then a technology consultant, and now university administrator, professor, and business creator.
Endleaf
Endleaf is Mac first document management system design for the AI era. Organize your personal and work documents, then make it accessible to your LLM of choice to take action. The idea is to keep what matters most organized, and to build your own personal ontology to drive your work.
American University of Mongolia
My wife and I founded American University of Mongolia in 2012 (then called LETU Mongolia) with a mission to bring American higher education to Mongolia. We produce some of the best qualified business and data science graduates in Mongolia. Our alumni help run Mongolia’s highest performing businesses. A big part of this success is a commitment to teaching practical things in the classroom in an all English environment.
Co-founder of Kraft
Kraft is a furniture and cabinet manufacturing company using a cut to measure system. We use modern automated machines to produce high quality furniture at high speed for the Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia market. Our clients are furniture designers and installers.
Data.mn
Data.mn is a collection of openly sourced Mongolian data made available in an easy to use and accessible format in English and Mongolian. I created it to make finding simple charts of Mongolian data as easy as possible.
Editor of MongolBeat
MongolBeat is a daily newsletter delivering domestic Mongolian news translated to English. I built it for myself so I can quickly and easily read the most important Mongolian news stories each morning. The newsletter is completely automated using large language models to choose the articles and translate them to English. This is a tool that I created for myself and I now have a little business with it helping others like me who benefit from it.
Old Projects
I do a lot of different things, but many of the things I’ve tried have failed or I just stopped.
- ErdemAI (2024) - With a colleague I built an LLM wrapper for Mongolian consumers. This was when Mongolian wasn’t great with LLMs. We used prompt engineering and our main users were professionals using LLMs to get work done. This was Mongolia’s first real LLM product.
- StatesmanAI (2023) - An AI assistant for US federal policy professionals. The US Congress literally banned these tools internally.
- Datafantic (2021-2022) - I wrote about different things using data science.
- Mongolian Data Stories (2016-2018) - I wrote about Mongolia using data.
- MongolWear (2015-2016) - We manufactured Mongolian wool socks. I still have some of these socks, want some?
